The Heart of Sol : Why I Chose to Work with Mothers

My journey as an entrepreneur took a poignant turn during the tumultuous period of the Covid-19 pandemic. With a background in design and retail, my event planning company came to an abrupt halt, echoing the uncertain times that many faced globally. As I found myself at home with my 18-month-old son, cherishing the moments with him, I also felt a yearning to channel my entrepreneurial spirit once again.

Having traveled the  globe in my twenties and thirties, meeting so many different artisans,  I've always harbored a deep appreciation for handmade goods. I also attribute this passion to my father who would bring me home a doll from every country he visited as he traveled for work quite frequently.  It was during this reflective pause during Covid-19 that I embarked on a journey to intertwine my passion for design with a purpose-driven initiative.

In the whirlwind of motherhood, whether navigating the demands of a full-time career or embracing the role of a stay-at-home mom, I've come to realize the superhuman strength inherent in every mother. Juggling myriad responsibilities, from providing and motivating to educating and protecting, motherhood is a 24/7 endeavor—an unyielding commitment that transcends borders and cultures.

Driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact, I sought to empower mothers in underprivileged communities through sustainable employment opportunities. Recognizing my strengths as a curator and storyteller rather than a craftsman, I curated a collection of handcrafted pieces, each imbued with centuries-old traditions passed down through generations. From intricate weaving to delicate back looming, these age-old techniques not only preserve cultural heritage but also empower women to support their families and communities. Every purchase from Sol Authentica is more than just a transaction; it's a ripple of positivity reverberating through communities, nurturing futures and shaping generations to come.

As a mother to a vibrant five-year-old, I am acutely aware of the responsibility to nurture and shape the next generation. By providing opportunities for women to thrive economically, we foster a ripple effect of happiness and confidence that permeates every aspect of family life. Through Sol Authentica, I am honored not only to showcase the craftsmanship of talented artisans but also to pave the way for a brighter, more equitable future—one handmade creation at a time.
